| 1990 Toyota MR2 N/A Manual, 223K Miles, Is It a good first car? | 11Relevance | 5 years ago | tokonomii | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I saw an MR2 sitting in my uncle's backyard. I been thinking of taking it for myself as a first car when I will be able to drive. But I think there might be something I should look out for. Any tips? - It's been sitting for quite a while in the sun (it gets very hot in the summer). I can also confirm that the battery is dead - car looks like it's from California, looked under the frame, appears to be no rust - 220K miles; is it still good for its longevity? Eventually when I get to test drive it, any tips that are crucial to remember? | |||||

Now a week later the van is getting hot again and the coolant fans aren't kicking on causing the van to overheat. I checked the 40amp fuse and it's ok. I even turned on the a/c to see if the fans would engage and nothing. The fans are the only thing I haven't replaced. This is really nickel and dining me plus I replaced just about everything. | Answer to: A car sitting in a lawn for 3 years. | 11Relevance | 1 year ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE
| I have the same year 9000, though U.S. specification "CSE" model with 2.3L turbocharged engine and automatic transmission - over 370,000 miles. It has body rust but just cosmetic. If your car just had a hole in the floor, that could be repaired. However if the car has structural rust to the point where it can't even be put on a lift just forget it. In that case the car would just be good for whatever parts can be salvaged from it. | |||||
| How long is too long for a car to be sitting around? | 11Relevance | 4 years ago | aedanhickey | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, I have been looking at buying a car. My budget is in the 6k area and I am seeing a lot of 85-05 cars from the elderly with 35-50k miles. For example, I saw a 2001 Crown VIC LX with 36k miles in it. Now that car is 20 years old with that low of miles so it must have sat for a while. How long does a car have to sit for it to be damaged? Thank you | |||||
| Screeching noise on start up | 11Relevance | 3 years ago | askrug | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Grandson's 2020 Jetta, 40K, VIN 3VWCB7BUXLM064318. When car has been sitting overnight. start up produces horrendus screeching noise that seems to come from down under at front right corner of vehicle. Nothing untoward visable on inspection. Noise continues for perhaps three minutes and then gradually abates. car then runs and operates just fine. Took car to VW dealer for servicing, they could find nothing wrong, or so they say. No screeching during daytime driving, only happens (everytime) car is started after sitting over night. What can it be? Thanks! | |||||

Is that code likely whats causing the previously described issue of the battery constantly being dead after sitting for a couple days? The other question I would have since the battery is bad but the Toyota dealership installed it only a couple weeks ago do they need to give her a new one free or can they refuse to, saying that the code problem made the new battery bad? | ... years ago too with no issue. The TPMS system was working just fine before the newest sensors, but I only get a steady yellow TPMS light on the dash now. I brought my own tires and sensors to the tire shop, so I can't get much help out of those guys since I didn't buy it all from them. The sensors I bought from Rock Auto was the Schrader 29100. The Schrader web page shows that to be the exact sensor for my car - preprogrammed. The new sensors will read back to the tire shop scan tool. The relearn/re-register procedure for my car (in the owner's manual) is ...
| Need a *very* durable car battery - my car alarm drains the @#$$ out of my battery | 12Relevance | 4 years ago | InCars | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, I have a 2006 Lexus RX 400h SUV. I have an aftermarket car alarm that drains the @#$$ out of my battery. I've needed to replace the battery 3 times since the alarm was installed. Whenever I leave my car sitting for a few weeks, the battery will be completely shot. I think it's partially a problem with the shock sensor setting off the alarm, or just the alarm system sitting there using juice for its circuitry and relays. I'm tempted to buy a $1500 Braille lithium battery. Haha. But that's overkill, obviously. If my car uses a lot of extra juice w ... | |||||

| 2017 Camry LE. Tried to start car after sitting in garage all night. It tries to crank, but seems like not getting gas and will not start. Tried several times and no good. Let car sit for 10 minutes and closed the door, depressed the brake and it started right up and runs fine, normal. This happened once before about 5 months ago, same exact scenario. This time took to mechanic and his portable diagnostic machine gave this code…P1604 Startability Malfunction. Going back to him today to put on better computer in his shop that hopefully gives the solution. The ... | |||||

| V8 or flathead six? (I think most Champions had the flathead six but the V8 was offered.) It might be that rings are stuck due to the car sitting. That happened to me ages ago when I rescued a complete-looking 1964 Ambassador that had been sitting at a junkyard I frequented at the time. The thing smoked like crazy until the engine was run for a while and the rings freed up. What do the spark plugs look like? | |||||
