| Answer to: How do I fix Dakota battery drain | 18Relevance | 6 years ago | Dallas9 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I checked and did not see this topic posted already. I have an 07 Dakota that is getting a P0562 code. The engine will turn, but will not start. The battery is at 12 volts, the alternator is new, the pcm was swapped out, and there is a .7 parasitic draw on the PCM B+ amp. | |||||

| 96 Dakota Whizzy Sound at Startup | 18Relevance | 6 years ago | Nwash | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| When I start my 96 Dakota (180,000miles) on cold mornings I hear this whizzy sound come from the engine. When the temp is above 40 degrees (F) the noise doesn't occur. Not sure what it is, still trying to narrow it down. I suspect its the alternator, but I'm not getting any other indications that the alternator is bad, charging is within normal levels, no dimming headlights when there is a load. Removed the serpentine belt and spun all of the pulleys and there are no grinding or squeaks from any of the accessories. Here is a quick video of the noise, Love ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have a 2004 Dodge Dakota, 4.7 v8, 2wd, quad cab. Makes a squeak in front drivers suspension that is incredibly loud. Everything looked tight, but with my stethoscope I found it loudest at lower control arm bushings. I want to install new arm complete with ball joint. Can you recommend a spring compressor? O"Reilly Auto parts has Ever Tough tool #67050 as a loaner. Will this work, or should I buy another one? First coil spring removal and I'm a little nervous. Thank you for your help, past, present, and in the future. | |||||

| 1998 Dodge Dakota dies when trying to start it cold | 18Relevance | 6 years ago | Wolfgang24 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey Scotty, I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota with the 5.2, 4wd, 8ft bed, 160,000 miles, automatic, no codes. When I go to start it “cold” sometimes it dies out when I give it some gas, I let off, give it a second, and it’s right back to normal. It may happen a couple times but once it is warmed up, it runs like a champ. Any suggestions or ideas what that might be, sir? | |||||

| I changed the head gasket on my 07 High Output Dakota. It ran for 10 seconds. Now, it will only make a clicking noise when I try to start it. The battery has 12 voltsThe starter works when I test it outside the truckThe engine turns and the alternator was replaced. There is a check engine light that comes on, but the code reader shows "no link"There is an extra electrical connector towards the back of the engine on the driver side. However, it looks like it has an end cap on it. | |||||

| I bought a 2005 dodge Dakota. One owner 62k miles from a 72 year old. Great looking truck. But there’s now a check engine light for ignition coil spot 1. It’s a very very light hesitation/jerk/different ideal. I’ve had many people not even think there’s something wrong. Anyhow, I changed it. Took awhile and the light returned. I took it to two shops, one being a dealer. They said it could be the engine itself- might need a new one. I guess this is common on these? Any advice? | |||||

| Hi Scotty. I own a 2002 Dodge Dakota Quad cab, 4.7 automatic, with 137,000 miles. I’ve been having a problem with my left front tire locking up and releasing when applying the brakes. I have had new rotors and brake pads replaced but the problem still continued. Then I had new brake lines installed plus new caliper on left front, same result. No leaks that I can see and the brake pedal feels normal. Not really sure what is causing the problem. From what I have read the brakes on the Dakota’s are a major issue. Your knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Tha ... | |||||

| 2002 dodge Dakota 5.9 magnum v8 140k miles. I've got a PO420 cat code but from my knowledge a lot of things can cause that code to go off. It has a slight misfire but I havent had any codes for it yet. You can hear it puffing at the exhaust and is also running rich, smell of gas is very apparent at the tailpipes. Has one cat converter 2 o2 sensors and a muffler that duals out the back. Downstream o2 sensor is new. 8 new spark plugs, compression test was fine, lowest dry pressure was 2 cylinder back from the passenger side I got 120 pounds dry. From what I've ... | |||||

| I have 2000 Dodge Dakota (Origial Owner) 5.9 L 4x4 with 75k miles. Over last 2 years I have noticed it started making a pinging type sound at around 1800 and 2200 rpm under light or heavy load. It will not do it just by reving the engine. The sound has recently gotten much loader. It has tendency to not make the sound while the engin is cold. Not sure if it's related but vehicle does not seem to have the power it used too. The plugs and wires and distributor has recently been replaced. The local mechnic heard the sound while test driving but could not locate ... | |||||
