| Answer to: Toyota Camry/(Lexus)or Honda Civic/(Acura) I apologize for the long question | 44Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Well I ain't no scotty, and I agree with @Doc - that'd be the ultimate suggestion. 😆 but anyway here's some answers as I see it: Toyota camry or Honda civic? These are not two things that'd you compare. two different sized cars... kinda like comparing a Yaris and a Corolla - or a Fit and a civic, you pick based on what you can afford, condition and size. As far as new cars? civic vs. camry? The camry is a foot longer, a bit wider, the 2.5L 4 cylinder and the V6 come with a conversional automatic gearbox and not some trashy small cvt - it's on ... | |||||
| Toyota faulty U760E transmissions | 39Relevance | 5 years ago | mdgreg101 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, CAR: 2012 Toyota camry LE, 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, U760E SIX-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. MILEAGE: 95,850 (you are seeing this correct a one owner Toyota camry with less than 100K miles that needs a new transmission) AGE: 8.5 YEARS (I bought it new in 2012) PROBLEM: 2012 Toyota camry Transmission Shudder (diagnosed at Principle Toyota by the dealers service department)(they also ran a glycol test which was negative). SOLUTIONS: Torque Converter Replacement at Toyota Service Department $2310.25 includes tax (warranty 1yr 12K miles). Transmission Replacement (remanufactured) at Toyota Service Department $7116.09 includes tax (warranty 1yr 12K miles). Rebuild existing Transmission at local transmission shop $3800 (only called on phone and got approximate estimate) includes tax (warranty 2yr 24K miles). Hindsight 20/20: If you have a 2012 - 2014 Toyota camry you will not be able to tell that your car has an issue unless you are a mechanic yourself and if you are you may still not realize it as the shudder is very slight. I am just realizing that my car had this issue when I bought it new. I took it to the dealer at 25K and they only did the software update and did not replace the torque converter. If you have one of these cars that is less than 8 years old and with less than 150K call the dealer ASAP and force them to replace the torque converter as it is under warranty (no matter what the dealer tells you). If your camry is older than 8 years or has more than 150K miles go to the dealer ASAP and get them to change the transmission fluid and filter (no matter what the dealer tells you). Unfortunately the service manual for this car says that the transmission has lifetime fluid and there is no service intervals for changing the fluid and filter on this transmission. You will have to take this into your own hands and start getting the fluid and filter changed on the transmission every 30K miles (no matter what the dealer tells you). Save all of your service receipts on this vehicle and never throw them away even if you no longer own this car. Keep a copy of the title if you sale the car. Start a file and make detailed notes of your experience with this vehicle and put all documents related to this vehicle in the file and never throw them away (I believe that this issue will become a class action lawsuit). You should also start to save $4000 to get the transmission rebuild as there is nothing that will help this transmission in the long-term (keep your receipts and put them in your file). I hope that you will leave this posted on your web-site as is. I believe that the transmission issue that I am having with my 2012 Toyota camry is larger than just the 795K 2012 - 2014 camry's that Toyota is saying it effects and that it is a not an issue but a bad design that is effecting approximately 15 million Toyota's that are on the road today with the U760E, U760F, U660E, and U660F. I wish I could drive my 2012 Toyota camry to you but I am not sure it would make it. I live in Memphis, TN and while I know it is a little far for you to come from where you now live in TN I think you need to drive a few of these cars and post a video telling your viewers and letting them know that there is an issue with the 2012 - 2014 camry Transmission. You also have a video telling them to buy one of these 2012 - 2014 Toyota camry's with the U760E SIX-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I hope you will take it down until you get the chance to research this issue and drive these cars. I think if you do some research online and check the Toyota forums you will find this popping up on all of the Toyota's with these transmissions from 2010 to 2019. I wish you could drive my 2012 Toyota camry to you but I am not sure it will make it. Maybe we could meet in the middle somewhere. I am up for trying to get the car to you if it helps to save just one person some money on the Shell Game Toyota is running on their customers. Reason for the shell game at Toyota: 795,000 camry's effected per LSC E03 Replace all 795,000 torque converters = $1,836,648,750.00 (billion) Replace all transmissions with a remanufactured transmission = $5,657,291,550.00 (billion) Below in bold is the exact letter that I emailed to the service director at the dealership and to Toyota corporate: Toyota new spin on an old favorite, "The Shell Game"! I was curious last night what transmission my Toyota camry has on it. From my few hours research online last night I found it was the U760E. I attached some rough numbers I looked up on Wikipedia last night on the potential total vehicles that could have this U760E. This seems to be more than likely the most common transmission on all of the Toyotas that were 4 cylinders. However, I will concede that some do have the U760F, U660E, and U660F. However, from my limited research I believe that all four of these transmissions are somewhat similar and share many of the same attributes. I did not pull the numbers on potential cars that have the U760F, U660E, and U660F as it would have just added to the already surprising number of vehicles this transmission shudder probably actually effects. The Toyota on-line forums are filled with this transmission shudder issue on all the Toyota's year and model that are on this spread sheet. I now understand why I got the shell game ran on me in 2015 and how it was done. Shell Game Toyota admits there is a problem with the transmission by issuing in October 2014 Limited Service Campaign E03 to only update the software. Then the next month in November 2014 start mailing letters to the customer saying we have just issued Warranty Enhancement Notification - ZE5 to do three things, put in a new torque converter, additional transmission pan magnets, and update the software. This puts both LSC E03 and WEN ZE5 in play at the same time for the same transmission issue. I received my letter for WEN ZE5 in the mail. I call and set up an appointment for WEN ZE5 and in good faith walk into my local Toyota service department Principal Toyota Memphis, TN in March of 2015 with my WEN ZE5 letter in my hand and say I am here to get WEN ZE5 taken care of. In good faith I pick up my car thinking that WEN ZE5 has been taken care of. However, it turns out that what was done was LSC E03 and not WEN ZE5. You should probably hurry up and reach your verdict as in only a few days of research online and a few hours spent calculating numbers on the attached Excel Spreadsheet I am starting to uncover something that seems to have been going on for some time and is still going on today as there are plenty of cars still on the road with U760E that are covered under WEN ZE5 and are currently still getting the Shell Game ran on them. What I am starting to find out as I call other transmission repair shops today and start to do more research is that with the transmission shudder issue that occurs in the U760E replacing the torque converter is only a patch and not a proper repair. The proper repair should be rebuilt or replaced the transmission on all vehicles with U760E that experience this issue as well as on my 2012 Toyota camry. I am sure if I research more it will be the same with the other transmissions in this series U760F, U660E, and U660F. I am going to post this on all Toyota/vehicle forums that I can find to help get the word out. My plan is to spend the $4000 and get the transmission rebuilt this week or next (then file in small claims court to try to recover this expense). This is my wives garage kept car that she needs to go to her job as a nurse. Right now I am driving her to work in my more reliable 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with 165K miles on it that I bought new in 2003. It has never had to have the transmission or engine replaced. If you want to drive this 2012 camry please contact me quickly so we can speak about a date and time before I get the transmission rebuilt. Whatever you do please make a video about this issue as it is my belief that you will be able to reach millions of people and save a lot of people thousands of dollars each. | Answer to: New Honda Accord 2.0 vs New Toyota Camery | 34Relevance | 5 years ago | Elon Dusk | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Lucky you 😛 This is an insertion from someone who has experience with both the Accord and camry. My younger brother drives a 2016 Honda Accord and I often take it to services and help him maintain it. I own a 2021 camry SE, myself. The Honda Accord has more power than the camry. I just slightly tap the gas pedal and the engine kicks in right away. In the camry, I need to actually press the pedal to make it move. Interestingly, the Accord came has a little towing capacity and it has a tow hook. You can't tow like a pickup truck can, of course, and I wouldn't tow with a sedan. Now, I'm going to tell you while I bought a 2021 camry SE instead of 2021 Accord. I did test drive both cars and I actually liked the Accord more. However, I'm a normal guy who drives to work and home everyday. I don't buy a car to look cool or race. And I've planned to keep my camry till its engine falls off or the government bans gasoline. You get more bang for the buck when you buy a camry. I bought mine at $30,000 and it came with Blind Spot Monitor, fully loaded infotainment system with Apple and Google carplay, all weather floor mats, homelink, rear view mirror with auto dimming. Keep in mind that the camry LE and SE are both base models. LE means Luxury Edition and SE means Sport Edition. You need to go to a higher trim level on the Accord to get BSM. The good thing about Honda is their vehicles come with right mirror rearview camera. I forgot to see if the Accord had auto start/stop or not. The camry doesn't, which is a plus. On the side of comfort, the ride in the camry feels smoother and less bumpy. I don't know the exact ground clearance measurement but the camry feels higher while the Accord feels lower to the ground. When I take a sharp turn, the Accord does better. I don't feel as much of a gravity pull like I feel in the camry. One thing I wish I was able to do is to take Toyoguard off the purchase. I asked the dealership and they said it wasn't possible to remove it from my camry SE or any Toyota vehicle. Also, Toyota offer 0% and 0.9% APR. | |||||

| Posted this on reddit aswell for some help but have added more info here. HELP 6.7 MPG ON MY FIRST CAR (2004 camry LE). I WAS SCAMMED AND COULD USE SOME HELP! Well guys here's my story. The 5th of July, I bought my first car a 2004 camry with 160 000 km which is around 100k miles. Paid 3.5k cash CAD$ from a garage. It seemed like a good deal and I got it checked/inspected at another garage where my stepdad was working. Missing Link kit and only ac blowing warm air to have fixed. They fixed it and I bought it the very next day. I was pretty desperate because I have been biking to work everyday for 20 minutes during raining days and thunderstorms... It’s been 6 days that I’ve had the car under my name and I filled the tank to full with 100$ and 150km (93 miles) later I’m almost out of gas 1/4. I went to see the my stepdad and he said the gas tank is faulty and has oil leaking out. Went to the garage who sold me the car and they said that everything is fine and that it’s normal. I tried telling him that it really wasn't but he didn't care, he already has my cash and with no contract or sellers agreement whatsoever he won't go out of his way to fix it. Soo far on the first full tank fuel up I'm getting approximately 6.77 mpg or 2.9 km/L. It sucks but I'm glad to finally have a car. I was really looking forward to working on all the scratches and rust on the car and cleaning the interior but I have bigger issues to deal with right now unfortunately. the issue is most likely a gas leak combined with horrendous gas economy. *The odometer is in kilometers because I am living in Canada, Qc - What can I say about the car. It idles at 1k rpm, I notice the Gas gauge go down a bit when starting the car in the mornings and it also smells like gas when I start it up in the mornings and when I stop at a light with my windows rolled down I can smell the gas again. It also has a tiny bit of white smoke that comes out when I start it.( around this much). - I have checked the Air filter and its brand new. - The o2 sensor looks pretty clean, but I will be purchasing a CRC 05110 Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner - I'm going to clean the Throttle Body with CRC 05078 Throttle Body and Air-Intake Cleaner - I have bought Mobil 1 High Mileage Synthetic oil to change soon, because the oil is kind of black/dirty but I am waiting to receive an Oil Filter thePurolator PL14477 ONEto be exact and I also am trying to find the right washer and *screw* or *bolt* to replace the old one. - I am going to change the Cabin Air filter tomorrow when I receive it - I will try to purchase an OBD2 scanner with live data stream” and evap test or o2 sensor test as well The mechanic say that there is a leak or crack in this part of the Fuel tank and says that it smells of fuel but it is not leaking and does not have any smell when I rubbed my hands against it and smelt it. I will be posting an image of the actual fuel tank later. But for now, This is where he said it was leaking from. *Where the metals of each side kind of touch. and are sealing the tank I know that I should probably listen to the mechanic, but I want to try out any other possible options that won't be costing me an arm and a leg to fix. Which is why I am also going to try check the pcv valve and change it if necessary. I am also going to be using my dads pump to check if the tires are properly inflated. I have been looking under my car every day for and drips or leaks when I move it in the morning and I never see anything. Other than all of this I'm open to any other ideas that you guys might have. I drive very conservatively as in don't try to press the gas too fast and don't really use A/C that much. My commute is 10 minutes of city driving which is pretty short, but it still doesn't explain 7mpg or 3km/L. I also had a good recommendation from a comment on the facebook post I made, if I ever do need to change out the whole gas fuel tank I'll go see if I can buy one from an scrap yard *Edit 12/07/2022 6:24pm First of all, I was not expecting this post to get so many people trying to help me out in the comments and would like to thank everyone who has read, shared and posted a comment trying to give pointer or advice to me. I have just read all the comments and replies and have some pretty bad news. The useru/Call_Me_At_8675309explained that the car might have had the CEL removed or tampered with so I went to check the dash with the key on-engine off and he was right sadly enough the car was sold to me without the ABS light, Maintenance required light and without the CEL. I had no clue that cars did that and am probably over my head for repairs but I'm grateful to at least know why I’m burning threw gas. The display always shoes these 2 signs below for gas and battery I think I will be buying the BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool from amazon (120$) but I think that it’s going to be a worth investment. Here is what my gauge looks like after roughly 10km of me driving to work Canadian tire to set up a rendezvous this weekend for a carburation system inspection (60$) and back. You guys can compare it to the initial picture above to see where it was sitting at last night Here are some answers to some questions regarding people giving advice but needing some more information or details. -Is somebody siphoning my gas: I doubt it because my parents have a home security camera and when I looked at the past nights with my car parked and I saw nobody siphoning my gas. What type of gearbox is it: Automatic Do I drive in D: Yes Do I disengage the hand break when driving: Yes Is my transmission shifting through all gears: Yes Is my gauge Faulty: Not sure A quick question when I open the gas cap, should I hear or feel pressure being released? Thank you guys for all the help and sharing advice on what I should do in this situation. *2nd Edit 3:11 Pm 13/07/2022 Updates - First of all, I rechecked some stuff like the MAF Sensor. I could of sworn that the MAF sensor looked pretty good but when I rechecked it today to be sure it's actually super dirty. - The gas this morning in the gage was noticeably lower than how I left it last night here is a picture I took this morning ***Before I went to work. Same Km on the trip 160.8 No leaking gasoline under the car though. - I listened to the fuel injectors each one of them (4 total) in my 2004 camry LE 4cyl. They sound perfectly good. I referenced myself with Chris Fix's video titles " Testing Fuel Injectors Fast" - I have yet to change the oil because I am still waiting on the oil filter from amazon and the oil drain plug gasket. - The dash also gives me the Charging system warning light and also the Low engine oil pressure warning - Here is a video where I show the PCV valve hose, which im not sure if it's tight enough but wasn't able to tighten it and fit it close to close up. And you guys can also hear a really loud sound constantly coming from the engine. It sounds like air in a radiator but its coming from about the top of the spark plugs. Near the end you can kinda hear the Fuel Injectors but it's not really clear on my phone audio. (HEADPHONE USERS WARNING THE VIDEO WILL BE PRETTY LOUD) -The idle rpm for my car was actually around 500-650 rpm. It starts initially at 1.5k then goes down I guess. -This is what the oil currently looks like and why I'm going to change it - I have changed the Cabin filter and that's about all of an update I can give for today! *3rd Edit 12:09 am 15/07/2022 - Just bought the MAF sensor cleaner and will be using it tomorrow to clean the sensor and the throttle body. - I have went back to the garage who sold me the car and tried to explain that the mileage that I am getting is not normal and that something is wrong. They said to come back with the tank near empy. Hopefully they will check it out but I am seriously doubtful. I will try to go tomorrow after work if I finish early because my low fuel light is on. I will be letting you guys know what happens tomorrow if I end up going to the garage. If not this weekend I have a rendezvous at Canadian Tire for them to check my carburation system?(60$) I asked for them to check for leaking gasoline anywhere and that's what the paper say's that they're going to check. Thank for any help you guys and stay safe on the road! *4th edit 1:27am 24/07/2022 Soo far I've changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter and am going to order spark plugs and a fuel filter pretty soon. I brought it to a garage that sold me the car and they changed the fuel injectors with other used ones and at another garage checked out the car and they suggest changing the fuel tank. Here are some unusual numbers from scanning the car on Idle my STFT is 19.5% and LTFT 44.5% at 664rpm. MAF rate 2.76g/s and codes are P0171 (system too lean bank 1), P2195 (o2 sensor signal biased stuck lean) and P2238. Any suggestions? Thank you guys and take care! | |||||

| Hello so I have been looking for a used car for a while and finally ended up buying 2001 camry 4 cylinder. It has 140,000 miles and I bought it for $2,800. I couldn't find any major problems. My previous car was the 05 camry with the 2AZFE engine that burned oil. I had it till 330k miles before the engine died. It got featured in Scotty Kilmers channel and the title was called "Why the hell have you not bought this car" But anyways I'm not too familiar with the 2001 camry 5SFE Engine. I heard they don't burn oil like the 2AZFE engine does and I did some research on these engines on YouTube and the engine in 4th gen camry has lot of oil seals that I need to watch for when it gets high miles like the cam plug, cam seals, oil pump seals, spark plug tube seals, spark plug tube reseal etc... The timing belt on this 4th gen camry was changed at around 70,000 miles and it is also written on the timing cover note. The serpentine belts looks new too. I dont hear any noise or anything and it drives smooth. I dont think this model camry has cabin air filter or unless if I am wrong. What problems do I need to look for on this 4th generation camry? Anybody that owned a 4th gen camry please share your thoughts. I appreciate it. Also I do most of the repair by myself and I currently go to school for automotive technology for my associates degree. | |||||

| Both great choices, but remember camry is a mid-size while civic is a compact. People usually compare civic vs corolla and camry vs accord. Although the 10th gen civic (2016-now) are quite big. If you want my opinion, compact is usually more than enough for a starter car. | |||||
