Hey Scotty.
I recently took my 2008 Lexus RX 350 FWD to my mechanic for some maintenance. I asked him to check the AC as it doesn’t seem to blow cold like an AC should, just ‘cool’. On hot days it just seems like the AC just doesn’t cool the cabin down enough. The mechanic checked the AC and didn’t notice anything unusual, instead saying that this model car tends to not blow ice cold AC. Any ideas on what could be the issue?
Thanks,
Omar
Two common issues for poor cooling would be that the system is low on refrigerant or the blend door that regulates outlet temperature is not operating properly. What exactly did the mechanic check?
I’ll have to confirm that with the mechanic. Thanks Chuck. 👍🏻
Hey Scotty, I’ve asked this question before, but now I’m gonna be more specific. This seems to be an issue (or more noticeable anyway) with the AC, but temperature control in general may be affected.
My vehicle has dual-zone temperature control. It seems like I get cool air (not ice-cold, but cool) out of the passenger side, but the driver’s side air is not cool at all, even warm. It’s similar to just turning on the fan on a warm day without activating the AC. When evening comes the driver’s side air is cooler, but that’s likely because it’s cooler outside.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is blend door related. If it is, let’s just say, well, I’m a little a-scared. Just a little note on the history of the vehicle, I bought it this past January (2021) with 98,000 miles. Now it is just shy of 105,000.
I’m wanting to know what my potential courses of action will be - what I’m up against. If you need more information from me, please let me know.
Thanks again Scotty & all!
Omar
