I have a 2001 Ford F150 v6 4.2L with a manual transmission. It has slightly over 200,000 miles on it... I have been having issues with it misfiring and someone said it sounded like the ignition coil was bad... So today I went and got a new coil pack, spark plugs (the gaps were way off in the old ones and they did not look good at all) and new wires.,. While I was in the process of changing the spark plugs I noticed that there was oil on the plug the was in cylinder 5... What would cause that?? Going to check for cracks in a bit by spraying wd40 on with the engine running.. I don't know what else to do or even how to solve it if there is a crack... Anyway, finished installing the new parts and its still running horribly... It sooo slow accelerating and idles rough. But then it started sounding like rocks are in my muffler.... I thought maybe a bracket was loose or something so i got on my creeper and started banging around under there to check...and ....I'm pretty sure there are rocks in my muffler... lol jk. But I dunno what it is... When i let off the gas to slow down it gets worse... At one point I was listening to it run while I was on the ground looking under the truck and it sounded like something slammed its way down from the catalytic converter and got sucked into the muffler really fast... Any ideas??

About the rock sound, odds are that your catalytic converter is broken internally and its chunks makes noise. The codes show misfire on cylinders 4-6. Also check the vacuum leak for the other codes.
so could i just cut my catalytic converter out of there and just put a straight pipe in its place??? Any tips or advice on where to start in order to fix the misfires and find a vacuum leak??
If you don’t need to pass emission test, you can cut out the catalytic converter. For misfire and vacuum leak, check Scotty’s videos.
I cut the catalytic converter off but then we just hollowed it out and put it back on... We drove it once and we were getting really loud backfires.... ended up pulling over and the pipe had popped out of the other pipe... I put it back in and tightened it really good. Would i be better off just taking the cat out and leaving that space open?? Or do i have to have something there to connect to the muffler??
