I have a 2009 Chevy Express 6.0 automatic with only 34k original miles that threw a po894 (trans component slipping) code while driving in the mountains. I first noticed a hard shift from 1 to 2 and then the check engine light came on. I reset the code with my little scan tool and it would shift normally for awhile. I replaced a tcc pwm solenoid and filter, using OEM fluid. Fluid/pan looked clean with just a little slurry on the magnet. I even drove 200 miles home on flat interstate without seeing the check engine light, but lo and behold the hard shift was back as soon as I took off after the offramp. Took it to a tranny shop and they pointed me in the direction of replacing the t.c. It just seems awfully low miles to have mechanical failure.. Thinking/hoping it's something electrical. Can you help me?
Hi, yes it's pretty strange for an old car but a very few miles to have that kind of problem. But, it's a Chevrolet, not known for their best transmissions. But still really new still.
But, I'm not sure if it would be an electrical problem for you to have a hard shift. But who knows...
You can try checking another trusted tranny shop, don't tell them what the previous tranny shop said. Just have a second opinion.
Could the torque converter. You have to pull the trans to check it.
