Car runs great but the temp gauge always goes straight to the far right when starting the car. It used to stay to the far left a few weeks back. All of my other gauges work properly.
Does the R2 fuse have anything to do with this or is this something else? I noticed the R2 fuse was missing a few days ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Get a new temperature sending unit, about $20 everywhere. It's screwed into the intake manifold near the coolant outlet hose, usually.
Fuse 11 in your passenger compartment fuse box powers the temp gauge. You'd notice a lot of other stuff not working if it was blown.
You have a short to ground on the ground side of the circuit. If it was an Open (break) in the ground side your gauge would stay on "C".
Like @doc says, the most likely reason is the temp gauge's sender is shorted internally.
On that engine, you want the temp gauge sender on the side of the engine. Not the coolant temp sensor on the front of the engine.
They're different and not interchangeable. The temp gauge sender has pins like this:

You should be able to just unplug the sender and if the Gauge stays on "C" then it's the sender. If it doesn't then check the wire going to the sender for a short to ground

Thank you all for your answers. Just purchased a sender and looking to change it this week. I'll keep you guys updated.
Thanks again!
