Hi, I've been told my automatic 1998 Saturn SW2 (145,000 miles) needs it struts and the valve cover gasket replaced. My uncle who lives in Nevada has a decent amount of informal experience fixing cars and offered to save me some money by helping change the struts. I know he has a few tools, but probably nothing very advanced or specialized. We'd be changing the strut assembly. I was wondering if this is within the range of what we could do ourselves or if we should just bite the bullet and pay the labor to get it done.
Pre sprung struts are a pretty simple job. Should be fine but you are the only one here who knows the trustworthyness of this uncle.
The valve cover gasket is easy to get to on that old Saturn. You shouldn't have any issues.
You have installed spring on the new struts assembly or only struts?
Thanks for the quick reply, we'd be getting a new strut assembly with the springs pre-installed.
