2 cycle in 4 cycle engine

Hey Scotty!

I have about a gallon of 50:1 2-cycle gas for a chainsaw left over and I don't want to store it all winter.   Can I pour it in my Rav4 or is this a dumb idea?

Thanks!

Not a smart move.

With modern computers and O2 sensors in that car, I probably wouldn't put it in there. At least not all at once. It won't damage the motor like putting diesel or kerosene in there will, but it could make your car smoke a bit like it's burning oil and may trip your check engine light. The oil could carbon foul your plugs, and mess with the catalytic converters. If you space the gallon out and put a small amount in each time you fill up your tank, that would make it less likely to do anything. I wouldn't think twice about sticking it in an old carbureted car, there's no expensive emissions stuff on them, and they have large gas tanks.

Bad idea, don't do it.

I'd put in a gasoline stabilizer (I use Sta-Bil)  and use it next spring in a chainsaw, lawnmower, etc.

Probably not worth the risk;  I would not do it.

100% bad idea
