I have a 2002 Toyota echo 5 speed manual transmission that has 300 thousand miles on it it has been a great car however going up hill the engine acts like it wants to go but loses speed to where  I can only go about 15 or 20 miles an hour but the car ells like burned rubber or plastic. It had 2 misfire codes in Wich I replaced the ignition coils and new spark plugs. It's also burning about 3 qts of oil a week to 2 weeks. Once I replaced these it did ok for about a week now it's the same problem. I ordered a pcv valve to replace that will be here Monday  what could be the next area I try in case this doesn't fix the issue? This is my daily and only car and I'm not trying to buy anything when used car prices are 60% more than they should be. Thank you for any help in advance

Burning that much oil your catalytic converter might well be clogged. Also chances are at that mileage you engine is just plain worn out. (The Echo was not known as one of Toyota's most durable models.)

How old is your clutch? Maybe that’s what you’re smelling that’s burning.

Also check for any debris (even oil) that’s touching the exhaust, which may be burning.
