Hello Scotty. I love your videos and feel like I’m hanging out with my cool uncle while watching them.
I bought a garage kept 2003 Cadillac Seville STS with 53,000 miles. For 3,000$.
I thought I got a steal of a deal. The car was in perfect condition.
within the first 2,000 miles the head gasket blew, at this time I had no money to fix the car. I walked to work for three months doing commercial cleaning, to pay to have the car fixed.
when I got it back, I was told it would blow a little smoke for roughy the next few oil changes on ignition.
it has been almost a year now and and I cannot use just regular oil. When I do the engine blows out the exhaust, with a huge plume of smoke and it burns a quart+ every tank of gas.
I have been adding Lucas oil stabilizer and this will stop the initial plume of smoke between short starts and stops. If I park for more than a few hours. The plume will blow out the back again on the initial start.
You should do a wet/dry compression test to check condition of the piston rings. A local auto parts store such as Autozone will likely loan out a compression tester if you don't have one.

Wow! Thank you for the super quick response! I’m shocked and amazed. Thank you. I’ll watch the video now and. Try to move forward. This is the nicest car I’ve ever owned and I want it to last as long as possible. Currently I have 70,000 on the car and this machine was garage kept before I got it. I spent 3 thousand on it and have had to put 8 in for repairs. I never would have bought this vehicle had I know it was a lemon with one owner who took care of it so well.

Well, they're nice cars feature-wise, but I'm afraid those Northstar V8 engines had a lot of issues. Some were fixed over the years of production, and today there are upgrades for some of them. I'm not sure where the 2003 version of the engine stands as far as factory fixes for the original design problems.

When the car overheated and blew the gasket, it probably also cracked some piston rings. As @chucktobias has said, a compression test will tell the tale.
