Hi, i am in third year of uni in France and just bought my first car, a used 2003 honda jazz 1.2 liter with 165 k kilometers (102.526 mi) with a manual transmission for 1200 euros from a private party. It drives and feels ok but about a week ago i noticed it started lightly smoking when the engine is revved around 4k rpm. It is a bueish smoke and from what i've found online it could be worn/gummed up oil control rings. I was considering using something like Sea Foam to try and clean the inside of the engine because an engine rebuild isn't an option (expensive).
What are my options? Thank you in advance!
Bluish smoke is oil. Change your PCV valve see if that helps. If it doesn’t then you're gonna want to run a compression test see which cylinder is worn and giving you blowby.
PS, there is no additive that helps with worn rings. Just a waste of money. On older engines from 60s and 70s you could run thicker oil, but that isn’t am option on todays engines. Especially with VTEC.
Not much you can do about a varnished engine. Baby the car, don't rev it high, and live with it.
Thank you for your answers.
Was planning on getting a compression kit from amazon but read that the oil control rings on the pistons only deal with the oil, ergo you could have perfect compression and still burn oil.
I think i'll give the PCV valve a go and see from there.
Also, was thinking more about using something to clean up the inside of the engine (taking the spark plugs out and pouring in something like this BG ISC induction system cleaner or spraying something like this seafoam spray in the intake while the engine is idling)

i am under no illusion that a magic additive will save this engine from its stuck oil rings, but am trying to find the most cost effective solution to that
