Hey Scotty, you've turned me on to Lexus, not just a car for snobs, I was wrong.
Helping my friend find a car for under $4,000 and she wants a nice, smooth riding car. South Florida here and I've found a number of Lexus cars in that range but they're all around that price and 200,000 plus mileage. Sellers are OK with a mechanic doing an inspection. Think clean cars like this can get another 60-100k miles out of em?
Thanks, enjoy Tennesee! Branden.
Probably, but make sure the timing belts have been replaced and a mechanic gives you the green light.
Since it’s a Lexus, remember that parts will be super expensive. So if on a tight budget, it’s better to buy a Camry/Accord instead.
@inthrustwetrust
Thank you, but I was under the impression they used many of the same parts as Toyota?
Been difficult to find a Toyotas/Hondas not in downtown Miami, and they drive like maniacs, so I've been avoiding that search.
Will mechanics generally let you observe while they inspect or is that a behind the scenes ordeal?
I'll check some youtube/google for inspecting belts.
@NewToLexus
OEM Lexus parts are usually costlier even though they share the parts with Toyota.
It depends on the individual mechanic if he’s fine with letting you observe his work. Probably a good idea to ask around the people you trust for a reputed mechanic in your area.
You need a record of the timing belt being replaced as they need to be replaced every 100,000 miles.
Scotty has a video on buying a used Lexus, watch it.
@inthrustwetrust Sorry to ask but which one in particular? I think I've watched them 🤪
I'm doing a search now and going through them again for good measure.
I personally wouldnt pay 4000$ for any car with 200k miles. Camry/Accord are as good if you dont need a v6 with a nicer interior. and could get a better value for mileage to price
