I have a 2004 Acura MDX and the Nav does not turn on. The radio component underneath works fine but the Nav screen with the A/C controls and backup camera doesnt show anything. I can see a backlight on but nothing is displayed. Is there a fix for this?
Also has 154,000 miles forgot to mention
Jsquad091. I also have a 2004 MDX that I recently bought with the same problem. The owners manual nor a manual like Haynes talks about it. I came across the answer on YouTube. If your battery has been recently replaced, or needed a jumpstart it can affect the navigation system. What the books don’t tell you is under your right front passenger seat is the control module, it is shot. There are a couple YouTube videos how to remove it and it’s fairly simple it took me about a half hour to remove and install another one. I bought a used one on eBay from a reputable seller who guaranteed it would work. When I plug it back in I was back running. You also have to make sure they send you the code as it’s a different code than the one you have with the navigation system it’s the four number code not the five number code. Also, before you remove the old one don’t make the mistake I did and how to reinstall the old one. Eject the disc from the CD ROM as stats the one your system is using. You Can always use a newer one but if you use an older one your system may not work correctly and according to online it may require a trip to the dealer so just pop out your current one and put that one in the new system.
There's always SOME way to fix things, but not always a cheap and/or easy fix. You or somebody else would probably start by removing the Nav screen and checking whatever cabling connects it to the car's electronics - any looseness or corrosion in that/those connectors could be a likely source of your problem.
You could probably google "remove nav screen on Acura MDX" and come up with some info on how easy/hard that is to do.
