2004 Hyundai Tiburon 6 cylinder with the 2.7L 124,000K miles
My nephew has a Hyundai Tiburon and it starts and runs but dies or has now power to accelerate when he presses the throttle. His mechanic insisted it was the throttle body and replaced it along with the TP sensor and IAC Valve on the throttle body. This did not fix the issue.
The car had a code for P0103. I researched that and found it to be related to the MAF Sensor. However, that part was replaced recently as well and after he erase the code it didn't return.
I have suspicion that there is a sensor issue somewhere, possibly the MAP Sensor or another sensor damaged, shorted, or unplugged/loose.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
So the mechanic you used replaced 3 more items, and the car didn't run any better. I wouldn't have a lot of confidence that he did those repairs correctly, so it probably would be a good idea for another mechanic - or you - do recheck all these parts, as well as hook up a higher end scanner that shows if the fuel/air is good, the ECU knows where the throttle is, etc.
Did this mechanic refund some money? Sad to say, some just throw parts at malfunctions until the customer goes away or runs out of money.
My nephew said the idle smoothed out or stopped fluctuating when he replaced those parts. However it did not fix the problem all together. The car still has no power or dies when the throttle is pressed.
Agreed on the need for a more professional diagnostician. Get someone who will download schematics from AllData and actually knows how to read them.
All you've had are folks who lit "the parts cannon "

Did you/they replace the MAF sensor with a brand new OEM replacement?
Also, check for vacuum leaks, change the fuel filter (if equipped) & pressure test the fuel pump.
They did replace the MAF Sensor but they did not do those other stuff or replace the MAP Sensor.
Sounds like you need to find another, more professional mechanic, in your area. Does the car have both a MAF & MAP sensor?
After further investigation he was not able to locate a MAP Sensor. Is it possible the vehicle has the same size engine with a factory turbo that requires a MAP Sensor? Maybe that is why website show that there is one.
That’s because the V6 Tiburons don’t have a map sensor...

Your mechanic isn't reliable, if I were you I would find another one (a list of recommeded ones are in the FAQ).
