Good day,

My 2005 dodge has about 203,000 miles on it and is an automatic. Gives no warning when engine shuts down.

No lights come on what so ever. Replace the throttle positioning sensor and still stalls. Mechanic is perplexed. Hope you have a remedy.

Kindly,

Shelly

Also replaced the throttle positioning sensor but did not help. Still stalls. Thank you for your help.

Hope you have a remedy.

A doctor doesn't just prescribe pills when you walk in the door. He needs to run tests and compile a diagnosis, so that he's not treating the wrong disease. It's the same with cars. Unfortunately, we can't run tests over the internet, and there isn't  enough data in your question for a diagnosis. It could be a lot of things, and unfortunately, Dodges are ridden with electrical gremlins.

Could be a janky wire or relay somewhere, a bad ignition switch, a clogged fuel line. The first step would be to determine how to predictably reproduce the problem.

Thanks MountainManJoe…can’t reproduce it to stall while driving 50 miles per hour. It just stalls! Does not produce a code as well. I innerstand as well you cannot diagnose anything over the phone or internet. This is what I innerstood to be a self help buy asking questions to see if anyone else has ever experienced what I am. Have a wonderful day.

Did you get it scanned for codes yet?

The only other thing to do is replace one by one

that's a lot of money down the toilet for a 17yo high mileage truck. And you may never fix the problem if the cause is obscure like a broken wire.

Yes, and nothing comes up?

sure, stalling is pretty common. But as I've said, the causes are many.

You should probably go to a different mechanic if your current one isn't up to the job.

I’ve gotten second opinions all saying unless it blows a code we can’t fix the problem. The only other thing to do is replace one by one different parts that could be the culprit. Like you stated, it’s not an easy fix w/o not knowing the culprit. Thanks for responding, I do appreciate you.
