I was looking to get this 05' g35x with 160k miles for $4k. no lights on dash no known problems. Clean title looks clean no body damage. Is it on the verge of blowing up? I heard they can burn oil, also transmissions can fail but on that particular point I hear it both way that it's reliable and it is not. It is not heavily moded just tint plus resonator delete. Interior is clean. I was considering this car the 2006 IS 250 awd 174k miles for $4k (which I hear also burns oil and has issues related to direct injection only), The other car is was considering was a 2010 acura tsx with the v6 (which I hear can also burn oil due to rings? I guess everything does) and 200k miles but considerably cheaper $2300. Lastly I was also possibly considering a 2006 Infiniti m35x 175k miles for $4kish possibly lower ( Can also also burn oil please confirm or deny if this is true). I have not seen any of these in person yet but they are all clean title only the acura has some body damage no lights on dash for any, except the acura a tire pressure light sensors are dead. I am not married to any of these yet (maybe the IS) so please help me out thanks. Also I have previously owned an 08' ES 350 it was pretty good just kinda road like a boat.
Don't buy any Infinity if you want low service and repair costs. Consider buying a Honda and Toyota model. They'll sell for less than their equivalents at Acura and Lexus, even though they are essentially the same cars. Do have a mechanic check out any car you might purchase.
@hixster in my area they actually sell for far more but I will look into it.
If I were you I would go with the IS or the Acura. Both reliable cars that’ll run forever. Just be sure to change the oil no later than every 5,000 miles.
which I hear also burns oil
I would still look at it. Have a mechanic check it out with his fancy scan tool prior to making a purchase.
@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 got it the only worry for the acura is the timing belt. paying to replace that adds a good bit to the price. And just found out the IS has A broken AC compressor.
@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 Also the IS is 4 hours away (no good ones local) and the acura is 3 hours. The m35x is local 15 min and g35x is 2.5 hours away. If any of that info helps. The car around me stay overpriced unfortunately.
A timing belt is nothing more than standard maintenance. Unfortunately those Acuras have interference engines so you have to change the timing belt every 100k miles. You shouldn’t be in more than $400-$500 as long as you don’t go to the dealership (find a good mechanic or do it yourself-there are a ton of videos on Youtube). If I were you I would purchase the Acura, being that you said that all it needs is a timing belt.
Regardless, remember to have a mechanic check it out before purchasing anything.
