Hey Scotty,

I just bought a 2005 Toyota Matrix with 143,000 on it from a local Toyota Dealer. I bought the car to become my daily driver for work back and forth 40 miles each way 6 days per week. After putting on a couple thousand miles the check engine light came on I went to the local auto parts store and it had a EVAP code after disconnecting the code reader I spoke with the guy about the part he thought it was I went back out to my car and the car was off I tried to restart the car and it just turned over but wouldn't fire. So i had it towed back to the dealership I bought the car from the next day i got a call saying they replaced the air intake meter costing me just shy of $300 for parts and labor. Well I drove it home the day they worked on it and it seemed to run fine but the next day the car started ran for about 5 minutes and it died. So i spoke with the dealership again and they said to have it towed to them which currently wasn't a option. So I started with some basic checks i sprayed out the MAF Sensor and still nothing put a trickle charger on it overnight and replaced the Fuel Pump Relay the next day it seemed to be running so i ran to a local gas station topped off with gas and added some ISO.

So the following day I picked up my wife from work and about 2 miles from leaving her work it died as we were driving i through it in park turned it back on and drove a few more miles and it died again so I turned around and drove it back to that Toyota Dealer with Rage I can say now that acting out with anger calling them every name in the book isn't the answer. So they had me leave the car there and the next day they told me they believe when the Auto Parts store hooked up there code reader it fried the ECM. A few days went by and i got a call from the dealership and they said they replaced the ECM, TPS, O2 sensor and Crankshaft Position Sensor and it still isn't running the owner says he has $1100 in just parts so far not including labor do you have any suggestions on where to go from here.

Thanks Bob

Find a good mechanic, he should connect the scan tool and test drive the car and analyze various parameters when the car acts up ang give you the answer.

Wow, they just went crazy replacing parts, did you agree to them doing that?

I got the call after all the parts have been replaced I agreed to the ECM but that's when they said that didn't work so they started replacing other parts
