Hey all,
My Honda is still running like a champ at nearly 100k miles. It has a manual transmission. Two questions that might be related:
1. Sometimes when I turn it off and then restart the engine while it is hot and everything is up to temperature after a long drive - it turns on right away but the rpm only very slowly go up. As if it just does not want to get going. I usually press the accelerator a bit to help… once the engine settles, it is fine and totally stable below 1000rpm.
Do I need to replace my sparkplugs? Is it some other simple maintenance item that I am forgetting?
On cold starts it cranks fine, just needs a little longer (+0.5sec) if it was parked for a few days.
2. When the engine is cold, the acceleration is a bit choppy when I press the accelerator from 0 to anything. Between lets say 1 to anything is fine, but as soon as I go off the accelerator (to change gears) - the start into the new gear is always choppy. It goes away as soon as up to temp.
I recently replaced the transmission fluid and the clutch fluid. Honda OEM both. VTEC has been adjusted as well…
Is it also just the sparkplugs?
Thank you so much for your input!
Of course always do the obvious spark plugs air filter fuel filter in a car doesn't run right if that's not it on Honda sometimes they need their valves adjusted they are manually adjustable valves have that checked if you've gone more than 60,000 miles without adjusting the valves. Also dirty fuel injectors can do that you might have them cleaned
Thank you for the reply, Scotty! I will change the spark plugs and fuel filter then. Air filter is still quite new and valves were adjusted 2 months ago.
