Why is my Stabilitrak warning light on

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL 6.2L AWD, it has 281,000 miles on the vehicle, it's my wife's primary work vehicle and is great for kids due to the spacious room it has. it was a garage baby with full maintenance logs, and a new engine and transmission were swapped around 220,000, I've been doing regular maintenance but I'm having issues with the StabiliTrak system.

The StabiliTrak light turns on and traction control continues to turn off while driving, no other dash lights are on, no ABS light, no check engine light, and no codes are being shown. I use a FIXED scanner to scan for codes.

Previous work done:

New back brakes, rotors, and calipers.
New battery, new ground wire, throttle body cleaned, fuel system/injector cleaned, and new air filter.
New CV axles, front brakes, and sway bar bushings, and all four alignment was done.

I have not installed or checked the ABS speed sensors and plan on replacing those next, but I don't have any ABS codes or dash light showing which has led me to believe that these sensors were not the issue.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to diagnose this issue with the StabiliTrak.

Do you have any diagnosis tricks up your sleeve or know of any probable causes?

Thank you,

Don.

You'll probably need an advaced one to scan your car

Okay, thanks I'll do that next.

You are welcome.

FIXD is junk. if you want something similar where it uses bluetooth and your phone, Scotty (and me too) recommends a BlueDriver. it does a lot for around 100 bucks. you can get it on amazon

@bobthehatking
Does BD read brake module stuff though (which includes stability control)?
I kind of doubt it.

@bobthehatking for such problems Scotty usually recommends a dealer level scan tool.

I'm not sure but in terms of similar products bluedriver is the way to go.

@MountainManJoe I have a BD and I could try to tell you if I could find it LOL

Thanks to everyone for the collaboration. I'm going to bring the GMC to a shop for a proper diagnosis for $150.00, because the issue is intermittent and I'm tired of throwing money at parts and possible fixes. Cheers!

You're welcome and good luck!

you can live without traction control, just drive carefully. but yeah if you want to diagnose it yourself, you'll need a better scan tool
