[Solved] 2008 Infiniti EX35 possesed

Hi Scotty- Love your videos!

I've got a 2008 Infiniti EX35 that's possessed by the devil.

First problem was about a year ago when I tried shutting down the car in my driveway, but no matter how I pressed the button it stayed on with the engine running. It finally overheated in my driveway (blew a coolant hose) and stuttered to a stop.

Long story short, I fixed the hose, flushed and replaced the coolant. Also put in a switch to cut off fuel pump in case I had the problem again. After I reconnected the battery the car ran fine (figured the BCM was reset). Only problem is the power seat and the mirrors no longer worked. Checked the codes with my BlueDriver and nothing obvious came up.

I replaced the ADP and the seat modules, did not fix. Bought a used BCM, but of course it's programmed for the keys so I could not use it.

Car ran fine for a year, just had to deal with seats/mirrors that did not work. Yesterday went out to the car and battery was dead. I charged the battery, but heard relays clicking in the IPDM module. Car started fine and what do you know, mirrors and seat works fine! So happy until I tried to shut it down, of course it stayed on. OK, threw the fuel switch and car did shut down. Now, car won't start, flashing displays, every error lamp in the world turns on and off. Dash displays flash on and off.

So, now I have a car that I can't even get to start and would have to tow it to someone to fix. Figure if I took it to dealer would cost me $200 for a tow and the dealer would sell me a new BCM and programming- probably $2k all in.

I'd love to see if I can install my replacement BCM and program it myself. Of course, I can't buy a Nissan Consult III programmer. Can you recommend a bi directional scan tool that might allow me to replace my BCM myself, or how I might ask an independent shop if they could program my replacement BCM?

Thanks in advance,

Pilot Bob

Please don’t double post, thanks.

You're going to have to pay mechanic to reprogram that BCM only super expensive ones can do that correctly the one I have that does that cost $5,800

Thanks Scotty, going to have to find someone. Hate to take it to the stealership....

I personally don’t know of a scan tool that can configure the bcm and program everything as a consult can but my best hale Mary suggestion would be a hard battery reset where you disconnect the battery and put the terminals in contact with each other for 5-10 minutes and go from there.. with the clicking of relays and such it sounds like you may have a voltage problem wether it be a battery or alternator I would test them both

Thanks R4nier,

Done the battery reset a bunch of times. BCM stays the problem even if the car is not running so would not be the alternator....

Voltage is good. Need to figure out how to replace the BCM, hopefully without the dealer scan tool.... Was hoping that someone could point me to a scan tool other than the Consult that would do the job.
