Should I buy 2009 Toyota Venza

Dear Scotty,

I am looking at a 2009 Toyota Venza 4 cylinder automatic FWD on a dealer's "you certify you save" lot.  They have it listed at $8842 CAD ($6785 USD) but the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree with 5 or 6 lit.  There is only 139,582 km (86,732 miles) on the clock.  I am looking to replace a 2011 Mercedes Benz GLK350 as I have watched your videos concerning Mercedes products and think I ought to unload it before the problems begin.  The Venza is easier for me to get into and out of and I trust you judgement on the reliability of Toyota.  My question, though, revolves around the dash light situation.  Do you think this car would be worth looking at further or should a person run away from it?  I have had no experience with Toyota so your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

First, test drive the car to see if you like it or not. Assuming you like it, you should check the codes first and ask a trustworthy mechanic to check the car completely. There is a chance that the codes are not that serious. Good luck.

i have a 09 venza ...love it , other than the heated seats quit. they are very good cars and ive been around cars all my life...i know lots about cars. take it to a mechanic and pay the small amount to have it looked at

If the Venza has check engine lights run away I think I’m following you correctly

I would find a reputable dealership to buy a car. I don’t understand why any dealership would have a car in inventory with multiple codes.

i take the dealership where saw this Venza was secondary dealership, whose offices are in a pickup truck camper with the engine idling?

Run away. To be honest that seems like a too good to be true 6000USD, I see them listed with more miles and listed at 10000USD. I would go private party, and try to find one in good condition Definetly more reliable than the Rav4 of the same years because of their oil burning issues. Toyota's are reliable but only if they have been taken care of. That is why you need to do your research, and stay away from ones that are having those issues. No matter what, have a mechanic check it out and make sure it is in good shape.
