2010 RAV4 four cylinder- noisy valve train at start

I have a 2010 RAV4 with the 4 cylinder engine. What do you think about the spin on oil filter conversion adapter? I’ve read that they contain a check valve. I like the idea of preventing oil drain back. Thoughts? Thanks.

Here’s what I’m referring to: https://youtu.be/62Ptx6n6d64

which engine? 2.4L?

Realize that the oil filter in your Toyota is at the bottom of your engine but the noise you hear is from lack of lubrication on top of the engine.

Yaser, I’m not sure what your statement has to do with my question? I’m very familiar with the the valve train noise, where the valve train and oil filter are positioned on the engine. I’m interested in understanding is if anyone has experience with the benefit of the “as advertised“ anti flow back feature of the spin on adapter - does the adapter keep oil in the top end; avoiding the “dry” top end and resultant valve train noise, notionally caused by oil drain back.

Short version of my answer is: No, it does not help.

these engines suffer from cold startup rattle in the VVT.

The engine needs to be disassembled and the oil control valve cleaned/tested, screen cleaned, chain guides inspected etc. Sometimes the phasers break completely. (there are recalls and bulletins. Check into them).

your engine doesn't need an ADBV and it won't help your rattle.
