What are the chances the car has both cam sensors going out? I'm afraid the timing belt is going out, how likely is this?

Engine is the 3.0. Do you need anymore info?
Engine is the 3.0.

This is a so-called "High Feature" engine by GM. It's got ALL the bells and whistles. High-compression, quad-valve, Spark-ignited direct-injection engine combustion system, twin-camshaft variable valve time phasing, torque management, variable length intake manifold .... you name it.
Unfortunately, this makes troubleshooting for the home gamer incredibly challenging if not impossible, and prohibitive to have done professionally. This engine requires a STAGGERING amount of computer power to control all the different systems in it. And with over 200k miles, all these complex systems are going to start breaking down and falling apart, and causing myriads of fault codes.
But hey, maybe you're a Cadillac type of guy, and a $5k repair bill is no sweat. In that case, don't mess around and just take it to a GM dealership service, or a mechanic who specializes in high tech domestics.
If not .... get rid of it!
Nah heck that. We don't have 5k and I'm not a Cadillac type of person but unfortunately my mother in law is.
I was hoping it would be both cam sensors but I was suspecting the chain going out.
The only tool I have is the blue driver so I'm guessing getting rid of it is the best option.
Thank you MountainManJoe!
I'm afraid the timing belt is going out, how likely is this?
I would say the likelihood is 0% considering the engine has a chain not a belt.
Chain is what I meant of course. Thanks for making me clarify lol.
insignificant likelihood.
