2011 Ridgeline, Front end wobbles...sometimes.

Hi Scotty new to the forum, have watched your posts for years....finally subscribed.

I have 2011 Honda Ridgeline with 89,000 miles, I am the second owner at 55,000 miles.

Recently the front end began to wobble ALOT, but intermittently.

I lowered my speed and it seemed to go away and actually I could then travel at a higher speed for a while.

A few days later I was driving maybe 10 miles and it did it again this time pretty violently, even when I went a lower speed. Then it seems to be okay for a while.

It also seems to happen more if the road surface is bumpy or rough.

Right now I don't feel comfortable driving for any long distances / higher speeds.

I know I will need to go through the checklist I made....Tires, Front Brakes, Suspension etc. (about 16 items on my list).

The fact that it is intermittent should be a major clue.....any thoughts that could point me in the right direction?

Thanks and have a great week.

Well the first thing you'd want to do is have the tires checked, put the front tires in the back and the back in the front and if it goes away. Mainly you know it's the tires. Tires are made out of rubber. Sometimes they might be a little out around then the heat up and then you come around there. Lots of things can do it when the tire start to get a little weird. Anything else is pretty much not going to be intermittent. If a tie rods worn or whatever, it's going to do it all the time

Thanks Scotty, I did see your video on that and that is first on my list.

I like your logic, but I’m not sure it will be all that helpful in narrowing down the cause.  If you have a small imperfection that allows vibration at a certain frequency, then when you get to the speed that generates that frequency, the waveforms will be amplified and generate wobble.  As @scottykilmer says, tires are at the top of the list.  But if that doesn’t correct it, then I’d look at wheel bearings, ball joints, and tie rod ends.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it.
