[Solved] 2011 Toyota RAV4 Cruise Control Will Not Turn On

All fuses are fine, horn works, buttons on steering wheel works, no lights on. When I push the button to turn on cruise control nothing happens (no green light on the dash) and I tried setting a speed after the button push but it doesn't do anything so it's not a dead dash LED. Also since the horn functions and the steering wheel buttons all work I don't think that it would be the clock spring.

Note that the cruise control is NOT on the steering wheel, but on a stalk on the column, like the turn signals and wipers.

Vehicle has a 3.5 liter V6 and 5 speed auto trans.

Result is that it was the switch. Easy 15 minute replacement! (Scotty, you should do a video on this.) Two T30s to remove the airbag and two phillips screws and 1 connector to remove the old switch. New switch slipped right in. It now works perfectly.

FYI, I took the old switch apart and found the shorting bar that that activates the input contacts completely missing. I asked the previous owner and they said that the cruise was intermittent for years, then finally failed completely a few months ago. A $17 control switch I found on amazon solved the problem. Probably would have been hundreds at the dealer.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CBMZPK7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note that this same cruise control switch is apparently used on many Toyotas and Lexii.

Well done & thanks for keeping us posted!

All fuses are good. Checked in all three fuse boxes. It looks like it might be the cruise control switch itself. Found a vid on YT that describes R/R. So I am taking a chance and replacing the switch. I found a compatible switch on Amazon for $17. The steering wheel controls work just fine. So, I am hoping it is not the clockspring as some presenters say. I will post an update when I have results.
