Scotty, I have a 2012 Lexus LS 460 with 95,000 miles. It’s in excellent condition and has been properly serviced for years. I don’t drive it as much anymore after I retired. I don’t put on enough mileage to justify an oil change even every year. Should I just wait until I have enough mileage for a change or should I just get the oil changed?
If you use the site search function you'll find this has been brought up quite a few times here, and the FAQ also has detailed maintenance information.
The short answer is that it is best not to leave the oil in the engine more than a year. So change oil and filter every 5000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first.
Even if you don't drive your car, it's always better to change the oil every 5k miles or once a year. Cause for gasoline engines, gas gets into the oil and degrades it so you would have to change the oil at least every 5k miles. If you had a diesel then that's completely different, you can push it to 10k miles if you only do highway miles.
