the AC just stopped working
what do you mean by "stopped working", please?
Be specific. The air coming out isn't cold, or... the air doesn't blow at all ... ?
have been smelling a foul smell
OK inside the car I presume, and coming out of the vents, or just in general? What does it smell like?
We have plenty of topics about de-odorizing the climate control system so look them up with the search.
cannot communicate with the car
what kind of tool are you using? Take a quick look inside the OBD connector to make sure it isn't damaged or dirty, and check your fuses.
the mass air flow and I'm going to try cleaning that
The MAF sensor is for your engine and has nothing to do with the problems you described. I would leave it alone if I were you.
The AC stopped blowing out cold air
It could be a problem in the mechanics or electronics of the AC system itself, or possibly your temperature blend door is not working. Have you checked static and operating system pressures with a manifold gauge set? That's generally the first step in diagnosing AC problems if there's nothing obvious like a blown hose or noisy compressor staring you in the face.
It appears that car has a computer-controlled compressor that utilizes a control valve instead of a clutch (per the rockauto.com database). You'd need a professional-grade bidirectional scan tool to do thorough diagnostics on a setup like.
