Hi Scotty,

Love your Youtube channel!  You have saved me a bunch of money on car repair.  I am by no means an expert, but quick fixes have saved me a lot.  My husband and I bought our daughter a 2013 Ford Escape SE 4WD Eco boost to drive back and forth to work 2 years ago.  It was cheap and we had it serviced by a good mechanic it now has 124K miles on it.  She complains now that is shutters when sitting idol or going up a hill and has to turn it off and on to get it to stop.  Is this a major problem or just an annoyance?  Should we sell the car and get her a new one or drive it til the wheels come off?  We of course want her to be safe, but she doesn't have a bunch of money to pay for a new car.  What should we do?  Thank you so much

124K isnt much anymore. I would have it diagnostic done on it. Even if it not worth fixing, you will be out 100 dollars. My son thought he was going to have to replace his whole A/C system in his escape. Turned out to be a wire short that cost him $89 to fix.

If you don't know exactly what you are looking for, there is no harm in getting a diag by your current mechanic, that said, I would say check vacuum lines, and then would check motor mounts as it vibrates when accel and while idle, unfortunately sometimes be the case that it be a compounded problem. Has happened to me before. The problem is very fixable but if the escape has over I would say 140k of city driving, then it's more or less at limit before any major fixes. If it's highway miles you'd have a bit more time. This is all on average though. So it's not like the car will spontaneously break to pieces. If you guys don't feel it is worth, the car currently sells anywhere from 4-8k depending on ya location from kbb. So that get you enough to make a down on a brand new car and payments over time or a good used one. Best of luck.

Thank you. Yeah. I think it's about at it's limit. We didn't spend a ton of money on it, but hope to get a few more months out of it before she gets a newer(not new) car. Good advice.

Start by changing the fuel filter & pressure test the fuel pump.
