Hey Scotty. My parents recently got my sister a 2016 scion iM. It has a CVT which we didn’t like but looked past it since it’s a Toyota product. Later on I learned that these are supposedly just rebadged Toyota Corolla hatchbacks? Is this true and do you think this car will last and do you have any tips on making sure that CVT doesn’t go bad. Cars got approx 45-50k miles can’t remember off the top of my head

That was a Corolla hatchback. The car including the CVT transmission were bulletproof so don't worry about it.

Follow the maintenance guidelines in your owner’s manual.

Yes Scions are just rebadged Toyota products & should be extremely reliable.

Those hatches did have a bit more problems with their transmissions than the sedans but if you take care of it you should be find in fact the Scion IM is an "Americanized" version of the Toyota Auris, basically the newer version of the Toyota Matrix (basically a Corolla) in North America (officially a replacement for the Scion XB).

If you want the CVT to last, you have to stay on top of the transmission fluid change intervals just like with engine oil.  Also, don’t drive hard all the time, be easy on the transmission.
