One thing i find with my Tacoma transmission especially when cold that when i go to press the clutch in if i dont first let off the gass a full second to 2 the motor seemingly wants to keep the rpms up for that extra second and if i push clutch in too quick it will cause a terrible clunk. To avoid this i can either time it almost give it the extra time that when cold can cause rpm to drop quick or float it out of gear the use the clutch to engage second. Is there any issue with floating out of first as i describe? I will say that the feel of this transmission is unigue. I have over 100k miles on it now so completely used to it but doesnt compare to any of the other manuals ive experienced. Any advice or would be greatly appreciated. Btw, i loved the recent start up of the old sport bike

I thought I'd never seen one like that if it's always done it obviously it was made that way but if not it's probably time for a new clutch assembly

Clutch has plenty of life in it. Im more curious of im doing any damage floating it out of gear. I only do it out of first. Only do this coming out of the 1 gear and generally only until its warmed up. Its a Canadian model access cab offroad model. Has otherwise been a great truck. I also wanted to mention that with regards to some of the people posting about their noisy motors. I have been running 91 octane with 0 ethanol since day one and my motor is really quiet. I feel like the 11.5:1 compression in these motors can easily appreciate the higher octane. Seems like its working for me.
