Hello all! I have 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan SE and I am having issues with switching information shown on instrument cluster display from imperial units to metric. I can see information such as temperature in Fahrenheit, average fuel consumption and DTE in MPG and mileage, trip A, trip B in miles. However I would like to see all of this information in Celsius, kilometers and L/100 km. I have the basic trim level, so there are only 2 controls for display: STEP and RESET. When I drove my car to my mechanic, he plugged the car to $4000 OBD scanner and all information shown on the scanner were in metric units. When we changed units from imperial to metric, nothing has changed and instrument cluster display is still showing everything in imperial units 🙁 Please help me, because I am driving this car in Czech Republic where everything is in metric. Thank you very much in advance!
What does the owner's manual say about it?
Nothing at all 🙁 There is no information in owner's manual regarding this issue. I also tried to change it on Sirius touchpad, but nothing there as well :/
are you sure?
Yes. I read the manual in paper form and also I downloaded PDF and using CTRL+F I searched easily whole document using keywords. I really have the basic trim level, so there are only STEP and RESET buttons. There are no arrows or other controls for cluster display
that's interesting because I found it on the web in about a minute. 1st search result was the manual. Searched for "metric" and bam, page 264.
Maybe I have different guide. I even took picture of my steering wheel and there are no arrows :/ https://postimg.cc/N5twhWzn
The manual states:
"The driver’s preferred units can be selected through the instrument panel settings if equipped."
So, it sounds like it's not equipped.
Yes, it is unequipped. But it is strange that even with $4000 OBD scanner the change of units does not work. We found the function, but when we switch it, nothing happens...
"unequipped" means "the vehicle does not possess the equipment necessary to perform this function." It doesn't matter what kind of scanner you have.
You would physically need to install the equipment.
Good job @mmj.
Chrysler Grand Voyager LX could do it hahah. Thumbs down for Dodge engineers.
same engineers.
I can't believe that there is no way to change this thing. Even my 2001 Chrysler Grand Voyager LX could do it hahah. Thumbs down for Dodge engineers.
Surprised that your base model has the optional luxuries removed to lower the cost?
If I'm not mistaken, LX was the highest trim for your voyager.
I would understand that my lowest trim level (Grand Caravan SE) does not have power doors, remote start, leather seats etc. But I consider this as basic function 😀 Hmm I am not sure. My dad bought this car directly in Prague (assembled in Austria) and bought it as brand new. It had 5 CD changer, 2 zone manual climate control and many other amazing stuff. Anyways it's time for me to learn Imperial system hahah. Thank you anyways for your help bro 🙂
Cars in Europe are sold with miles on the speedometer? Strange indeed.
Was it imported from GB?
No, our 2001 Grand Voyager was assembled in Austria, Graz and sold in Prague, Czech Republic. It had analog speedometer with kilometers, but there was also small display on the overhead console which was showing DTE, temperature, average fuel consumption etc. And you could simply convert all these information to imperial system using a single button. It was cool stuff 🙂
