2017 F150 ecoboost Oil filter/change

Hello all,(and Scotty 😏) couldn’t find anything online about this. Wanted to ask a seasoned PRO. I have a 2017 F150 with a 3.5 ecoboost 4x4 that has about 121k miles. Bought it with 55k, have racked up the rest of the miles in about 1 year and 10 months of ownership. I’m planning on keeping the truck as long as I still have a beating heart, thing has been pretty solid with the exception of a funky transmission and the odd oil change Situation.  Last couple of oil changes I’ve noticed the oil filters being warped after I take them off. What could cause this? Should it a concern? I lube O ring, and pre fill filter inside until it no longer absorbs any oil.  I change the oil about every 5k miles, using Mobile 1 full synthetic 5w30(what the truck calls for) and motor craft oil filters that come off looking like they got beaten in with a hammer. Any ideas? Thanks!

The filter element inside can collapse from malfunctioning bypass valves. But I've never heard of the outer shell collapsing. Something DID beat on it physically.

I don’t drive in super harsh conditions imo. But yes the outer shell of the filters look like they have taken a beating after removing them. It’s been about 4-6 of them that seems this has happened to.

got any photos?

It sounds like these are defective filters and I would stop using them.  Get something like Fram or something else.  Do you drive a lot on gravel roads with stones being thrown up under the truck?

Most of my driving is highway use. So not much gravel roads, every now and then. The owners manual(I’m probably one of the few idiots that actually reads it sometimes) recommends them. I just changed my oil recently, so you suggest i should change to another brand and see if that solves that?

Congrats, you are probably one out of a hundred people who read their owner's manual.  Maybe Ford (Quality is Job None) is using recycled Pinto bumpers for their filter housings.

What oil filters are you using?  Brand, name and number?

Hey Doc, as I stated they are Motorcraft Filters, FL500s.
