[Solved] what maintenance should I do on my Santa Fe

Hey Scotty

I wish you lived near me. It's hard to find a straight shooter like you.

I have a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, automatic transmission with 84,000 miles on it. I've only had oil changes done on it and I am replacing the brake pads for the first time tomorrow.

I know you don't like Hyundai cars, and I only owe $6,000 left on it.  Can I expect it to last very long? How many miles can I expect?  It seems the 2019 is one of the better models from what I've seen.

What would you recommend to make it last longer? With 84,000 miles, do you recommend any flushes (coolant, tranny, brake fluid, etc.)? Should I get a tune up, change anything out?

Oh, i bought Goodyear assurance MaxLife tires... HATE THEM! When the pavement is wet the tires spin on the painted line at a stop sign, and the slide on wet pavement in SouthWest Florida.

I'm kinda scared to do anything after hearing the horror stories you mention on high mile cars, and not having done any other maintenanc other than air and cabin filter, I don't want to make things worse. Should I get a tune up, change anything out

I think I have convinced myself something is wrong with the transmission or fuel injectors because I sense a very small jerk.. but honestly, it may just be my foot coming off the pedal as it seems sensitive... I may have convinced myself it does it on cruise control too, but I'm really looking for it since reading they has some issues. So maybe I'm nuts.

If it's possible to make this last I need to as cars are stupid expensive now.  I'm just afraid to do flushes that you don't recommend. Of course the dealer says do them all.  Ugh.

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it!!!!

Larry

Well you bought it so you might as well as take care of it. So I would flush the coolant change the transmission fluid but don't flush. Just change it. I'd also bleed out the brake system and check all the belts and hoses. And I agree with you about those tires. People don't understand tires have a lot to do with how your car goes and there's a lot of crappy tires out there these days
