hello there my new girlfriend bought a new 2020 Toyota corolla SE with transmission type K120 with 121,892 miles on it and as she took it to the dealership they stated that she's going to need a replacement which will cost about 3800 parts and labor. She's upset because now she wants to get another car but cant afford to make payments again as she JUST PAID IT OFF. I need any suggestions because 1. I would never buy a new car, 2 I suggested just fixing it and getting all she can out of it and get something cheaper.

See the problem with Corolla is they use CVT transmissions. CVT transmissions runs off of pulley belts. They don't last that long. But thankfully Camry still uses regular automatic transmission and not the CVT Junk. I would not fix the CVT Transmission cause it will break down again after 100k miles. Your girlfriend is right on her choice. Sell the Corolla and get a car that doesn't have CVT Transmission.

Toyota Corollas have a launch gear that is a regular gear. They are the most reliable CVT. They perfect their CVTs over time.

Maybe it will take them a while to perfect a CVT. Our 05 Camry has 375k miles and still has the original transmission. It doesn't have CVT and uses regular automatic transmission. If CVT Transmission only lasts 121k miles. I would definitely won't own one, even if I get it for free.
