Should I buy this 1986 Chevy S-10

I want to buy a first-generation s10 and don't see any videos on your opinion of it. The truck is an 86 with a five-speed transmission with the 2.8l and it has 220 thousand miles on it.

Back then GM was making much better cars and trucks. If they don't want to much for it then go ahead and buy it as those were solid trucks.

2000

Yeah, go for it. If the truck is in half decent shape then it is well worth $2000.00.

If your mechanic says she's good to go and you don't mind looking around for all the rinky-dinky plastic pieces that break, go for it! Apparently those old S-10s were great for hauling shrubs... if that's what you're into, of course. 🤠

he just said if there's no knock in the engine get it because we can always swap for the 4.6l

It could be fine for the occasional errand but I wouldn't use it as a daily. It'll need too much money/attention.

Don't spend too much.

also you didn't say anything about the condition. It's going to need a thorough inspection.

$2,000 is too much for that age + mileage. It should be under $1,000

not really. The hood is faded. The interior is torn up. What girl will want to be seen in that thing?
$800 tops

obviously the blower doesn't work. The more I look at this thing, the more I see it's overdue for scrapping.

Simple, reliable little trucks. If the drive line is ok, might be worth it.
But there are probably minor problems that won’t be worth fixing and you just live with (like the glove box hinges are probably broken and unfixable). Also, inspect it for rust. If the frame is rusted, walk away.

not in the rust belt so it has no rust

Disclaimer, I love small pickups, so yes to all small pickups and based on the information, it is a solid yes.

ok sweet thanks what do you have?

It was, yes was, a 94 Ranger (hope youll still talk to me Chevy vs. Ford), and loved that truck. It was just the right size, lol. Putting groceries, moving a couch (all the tie downs), parking, it was perfect. Five years later (2001-2006) had to say goodbye, and regret it. If I could go back in time and talk to myself, I would say dont get rid of it. Eh, at the time, it made sense. Sooo, that is why it is always a yes to small pickups (S10 or Ranger).

My nephew had one similar to that (not near as nice) that he used as a work truck. Drove it for a long time, looked horrible but held together well mechanically.  That one you are looking at is really nice on the outside, inside looks like typical things to expect...fragile plastics and such.  I would try to get it for less....1500 would suit me much better than 2k.
