Hello Scotty mi question is when
A car gets older does it use thicker oíl?
I got a frend that has a Honda Accord
Year 1992 and he put thicker oil
Had a 1992 Ford F-250 w/ the 351 Windsor. Original owner said he started using full synthetic about 5 yrs before I bought it. Had a small leak and he couldn’t figure out why it was leaking at all. When I bought it from him I checked the manual out and switched to what the manual said. Used regular ol 10W30 in the summer/fall months and 5w30 winter months. Changed it every 3000 mi per the manual and guess what. Didn’t leak oil anymore.
Manual before anyone or anything else.
My friend doesn't have the car manual that's the reason I'm asking because everyone says that's when a car gets older he uses thicker oil and he has a Honda 1992 can
@christopher1945d Some people still follow this advice because with older vehicles people would do that when vehicles started aging. There’s always a way to get the manual for your vehicle. I have no doubt a google search could pull up your vehicles manual. I don’t care what people say though the manual is the Bible for the vehicle.
@USAFdozerpilot Literally the first link, and directly from Honda. Super easy for the vehicle in question.

So my friend I shouldn't change too thick oil
If the engine doesn't have any problems, don't switch oils.
If it leaks, then you might want to do something.
