Hi Scotty,
I have a 2012 Honda CRV EX-L front wheel automatic. There’s a problem with the AC after it’s been parked in the hot sun for a while and I start it up. It doesn’t blow cold air even after I turned it on max. Funny thing is that it blows cold air after I park it in my dark garage for a while and start it. Do you think I need to add refrigerant or is the compressor is going? I visually checked the compressor, condenser, fan and evaporator and they seem fine. BTW, there’s cold air on the driver side as well as passenger side vents after starting the vehicle in the garage.
Thanks

Please do yourself a favor and take it to someone who specializes in auto AC. Do not try to fill it up from a can from an auto parts store.
A car that has been sitting in the hot sun has an enormous amount of heat soak in the ductwork and interior of the vehicle. If your AC is not working as efficiently as it should it won't have the capacity to cool down quickly or at all under those conditions. It may be low on refrigerant or there may be some other issue, but if you are not familiar with working on air conditioning take it to an independent mechanic (not a dealer and not a chain like Firestone or Pep Boys). You can easily make matters worse with a cheap "recharge kit" or even injure yourself.
I know Scotty has shown using those kits in some of his videos but he has also warned about the pitfalls of using those things:
