Hello Scotty,
What is the best brand and manufacturer of oxygen sensors do you strongly recommend for my 2005 Kia Spectra5 Hatchback with about 104,000 miles? The engine is the 2.0L Hyundai I-4 Beta II engine. My check engine light keeps coming on and off continuously and I have the primary codes P0171 (System Too Lean Bank 1) along with secondary codes which are P0455, P2626, P0030, P2196, P2271 and P2243 respectively. What else should I do or look for after replacing the downstream and upstream oxygen sensors? Thank you so much Scotty for all of your time, patience, and assistance. Have a wonderful evening.
Sincerely,
Ameer N. Sulieman
OEM sensors are always best. A lot of cars don't work properly with aftermarket O2 sensors and can start throwing spurious codes. (I found that out the hard way!)
Thank you for your help. I will go ahead and install genuine Hyundai/Kia OEM Oxygen Sensors and play it safe as always.
Of course the other issue is whether replacing O2 sensors is going to fix your problem, but if that car still has its original sensors they're pretty much due for replacement. Other potential problems for a lean condition would include vacuum leaks, fuel injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump. (After all the car is 17 years old.)
Hello Chuck, my 02 sensors are original OEM so they are definitely due for replacement. I still have the original fuel pump and fuel filter in the tank along with the original fuel injectors as well. I don't think I have any vacuum leaks that I aware of, but I will check all of the above items as you mentioned if the 02 sensors does not solve my problems completely. Thank you so much for your assistance and advice. It is greatly appreciated.
You're welcome, we're here to help as much as possible! You should be able to find online sources selling the OEM sensors for less than you'll pay at the local stealerships.
According to the Rockauto database, the "actual OE" downstream sensor is Bosch #13461, and upstream sensor is NTK #23404, but you may want to verify that on a Hyundai/Kia enthusiast site.
