I’m looking to build a Ford 428 engine. I would like to know if anyone knows, MABBCO MOTORS and if they are a reputable company. Also, any 428 should fit into a stock mustang as the same year of the block?
thanks for the help, Scotty! 😊

Oh, ps: I’m looking for just a block or used/junkyard engine so I don't want MABBCO or whatever company to do anything but provide a block. Junkyard engine that’s  another story, I know you get what you pick

Mabbco specializes in rebuilt engines, so there is an inherent risk involved. I've heard mixed reviews about them. I've only used them once when I was trying to purchase a Ford 302 motor. I was told it was punched 10-over, but when I got it it was actually punched 30-over. That was enough for me to pass on future orders.

That being said, that's my single experience with a single engine and by no means represents all of their products. As for the 428, if it was available as an option from the factory then you can make it fit. I would look at the Ford Performance Parts 427 motor if I were you. 535HP should get the job done.

Thank you for the response. Would you be able to recommend a place to look for engines. Jus a good starting point. I’ll keep an open mind about mabbco

I would check out Texas Speed and Performance and Scoggin Dickey Race Motors. Both are here in Texas, have solid reputations, and are excellent LS motor builders. Happy to help!
