Burning smell from car following gasket repair

Hi there. I've come here as I am not car savvy at all so please accept my apologies in advance. I have recently had the gasket on my 2013 Vauxhall Astra replaced. Prior to this, there was a strong burning smell coming from the hood with smoke present too. It wasn't a sweet smell but more like an acrid smell. Since being repaired, the smoke has gone and my other half seems to think the car runs smoother and the engine sounds better. There is a faint smell at times that was similar to the one present before.it does go away and doesn't linger. At the same time, my coolant tank and pipe had to be replaced. My car now tells me that the coolant tank is low despite being full. My partner suggests that his could be due to the sensor not being reset. Are both these issues relatively normal following such repairs? Many thanks for your time, Susie

Well it depends with the burning smell less if the gasket was changed you really have to clean the entire engine off to get all the oil off or it will smolder. But if it's coolant you'll get a burning smell but it's more of a sickly sweet smell

Thank you for answering. It definitely isn't a sweet smell. When they changed the gasket, they said they did a couple of engine flushes and the reason for the coolant replacement was because it was lacking "adequate pressure" . Sorry to sound dense but does flushing the engine count as cleaning? Many thanks, Susie
