Buy civic or accord

Hi Everyone,

Currently I am looking for a new commuter car. I have owned 2 Toyota cars in the past. So this time I'd like to try something new. Considering that safety, reliability and fuel economy are pretty important to a commuter car. I think I will choose between honda civic sedan 2.0L non-turbo and all new accord 1.5 turbo non-hybrid. (CVT transmission for both)

I think they are both very good on mpg and very comfortable for everyday driving. I drive 80 miles per day, and 99% of that are on highway, so Hybrid option seems not suitable for me.

My question is: should I spend 10K more to upgrade to larger sedan but it's equipped with turbocharger and direct injection fuel system? Or just simply buy a cheaper non-turbo civic which still using port fuel injection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks :d

If you asked me this question 25+ years ago, I’d say go Accord, because the Civic was so tiny. But the Civic and Accord have gotten upsized over the years, that the new Civic feels like the same size as the older Accord of 25+ years ago. I don’t know the actual dimensions, just eyeballing it. And the Accord got ginormous, with respect to its earlier generations.

  1. May I go for the cheaper non-turbo. The Honda 2 l engine will out last the turbo smaller engine by far. Sure the turbo is faster but it will wear out faster
