Buying a 2012 ford fusion

Hi Scotty, my name is Edward. I'm thinking of buying a 2.5 lt 2012 Ford fusion with about 90,000 miles which was in a wreck. The body is still in good condition. However my mechanic's computer could not read anything, I mean no signal, when it was connected. The dealership says to replace the engine's computer and quoted like $900 to replace it. But LKQ quotes about $120 with the same car specs. What should I do? I'm buying it for $2000. Is this car even a good/reliable car that can take me far enough? Any tip is most appreciated. Thanks.

Stay away from that vehicle. If it's been in a wreck along with computer issues then it's going to be a pain. The ford fusion isn't terrible; just find one from a private party who took care of it.

You probably can't just swap out computers in that car. Unless it's a 100% match to the car, they likely need to be reprogrammed, which requires a pretty competent mechanic or a Ford stealership. Even if it does work, there's no telling if there are damaged wiring harnesses or broken wires from the accident, which can become a rat's nest to fix in a hurry.
