Hey Scotty! I want to buy an old Class a rv - around the 2000s to travel full time with my wife and two kids. In principle I prefer a diesel pusher because of the air ride comfort and the torque.
I em talking about the Cummins 300 or the CAT equivalent, I realized they are quite reliable but they are very expensive to buy end I am not really sure about the overall reliability, the second option is a gas ford v10 e550 chassis. my question is how are they in terms of reliability and maintenance? do you think it will be cheaper in the long run? Because I understand they not to complicated to work on them, even myself with the help of online guide I have a pretty good hands...
The other option is to buy a ford F-250 or f350 pick-up end a travel trailer or fifth wheel, it's probably going to be more reliable and more cheaper in the long run but it's much more expensive to buy because I need to buy a pickup and a trailer I would love to hear your opinion of the of the subjects. Thank you very much.
In general, the RVs do not hold up overtime and needs lots of maintenance. In my opinion, I don't think buying a RV especially in this crazy current market is a good idea.
Go with the travel trailer option
Navigating a big rv especially in more congested areas is a nightmare
You'll end up buying an RV and a "Tag-along" car
If you ever breakdown you would have no trouble finding a mechanic to work on the pickup
Lastly, you may want to get a used travel trailer to start, as you may find life on the road "aint all that"
Happy Trails
T
I think the buying a truck and then a trailer would be a better option. As others have said here RVs are not very reliable or as reliable as the truck + trailer option.
Is it true that many RV campgrounds do not allow RV's that are more than 10 years old?
I believe that applies to mobile home parks
Any RV site ive been to doesnt seem to restrict based on age
