Buying rental cars

Looking to buy a 21-22 nissan titan and see a ton of them listed as rentals on carfax. Are they to be avoided? Seems rather difficult but I hear people tend to abuse rental cars? Any way to tell by checking it out? Can live data tell if they are safe or abused?

Rental cars frequently are abused. People don't have to care what they do to those vehicles since it's not theirs. I'd stay away from them.

Thing to really remember when thinking about buying any old rental car is people drive them like they're stolen they don't care about them cuz they're not their cars they do have maintenance done on them but most of them have been driven as hard as possible by multiple people so my word is caution is just be careful with it and get it inspected by a licensed mechanic I bought a 2018 GMC terrain it was an Enterprise car and I don't have the car anymore because of all the issues it had me personally I would never buy a rental car ever again.

If you wanna check them out you can bring a mechanic or bring your own scan tool and request to inspect it if they'll allow it. But its a rental no matter what brand they are they will always be abused because its not someone elses car and rather the company's car. They should be responsible enough to maintain them..buut they dont 🤣.

Im not 100% sure about live data, but I've used a blue driver scan tool to see live data and assuming you mean engine wear from constant abuse I'd say so from looking at compression ratios and how much fuel is being added but take that with a grain of salt lol. You can also tell without live data just by driving around

But to be honest why go through all of that when you can avoid them in the first place unless you're really really lucky for one that hasn't been tortured

I bought a 2014 Impala Limited from a dealer that bought it at auction. The vehicle had previously been a rental, it only had 36k miles, it now has 125k miles and is still going strong.

I think it depends on the car, and depends on the rental place.

I look at it like this...Rental or fleet vehicles are meticulously maintained. Are they abused? Maybe, but I don't think thats the case for many of them, I think it depends on the car, perhaps the cheapest rental are, but you start getting into the cars that are more expensive to rent I would imagine the kind of people that tend to rent those cars don't abuse them.
