Can my scheduled oil change be delayed?

It is for 1989 Chevrolet Camaro with 53k miles. I only drive it during the good season and not during winters. Since its last oil change, the car drove a couple of thousands of miles. After 1 year, it should be done now. But as I don't drive it on winters, can it be delayed till next spring?

All oils develop condensation over time, and gasoline develops acidic residues when burned. It's up to the additives to keep it from turning acidic (your catalytic converters are there to keep nitrogen oxides from entering the atmosphere, among other things). You only have to deal with condensation when you have fresh oil in the oil pan. It's best to change it before storing it for the season, but that's just me.

change the oil at least once a year.

If you're able to, start up the engine monthly or biweekly, and get it warmed up to operating temperature. That'll drive off the moisture, fuel, and other contamiantion, and lubricate everything to keep it from rusting.

The general rule of thumb is to change it per the mileage or at least once a year.

Of you want to exceed the mileage and/or yearly change, I recommend doing an oil analysis. An oil analysis can give you some data, that may or may not support extended oil change intervals.

I’ve used Blackstone Labs in the past. https://www.blackstone-labs.com

There are others out there too.

I usually change my oil by mileage rarely by time, because I reach the mileage before the time allotment.
