I have a 2004 honda accord 2.4L v4 coupe that had no trouble at all starting up every time, but when the ball joint broke on the passenger side, upon fixing it the engine turns over but rarely cranks. It has now sat for over a year and I have no idea what may be causing this issue, but when it does crank, the car drives smoothly until I reach 3000 RPM, where it cuts and quits letting me accelerate. This kills the engine sometimes, but often just wont exceed 3000RPM. What should I be looking at to know where my problem could be? I understand what to do to fix it when I can find the issue, but I have wasted too much money just searching online for every fix I can find. Nothing is working but I know its something either overlooked or unusual. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks in advance! It has about 140,000 miles and I haven't been able to run an obd scan since just before the ball joint messed up and don't remember the codes I got...
Well, unless it's a total coincidence when the ball joint work was done, I would assume wiring got damaged. Such as wiring to the crankshaft sensor or anything on a computer system. And then of course you added parts to the rat's nest by letting it sit for a year and the gasoline will often go bad sitting there for a year. I would say start by checking the wiring and the battery and the charging system from the alternator. And look closely to all the wiring. Something could have been damaged, crushed or unplugged
