Hey Scotty, I just recently bought a Honda Civic with 157,000 miles on it from a private owner for $3950. I went to check it out and test drive it and it runs and drives great, but then today got a check engine light on. I took it to auto-zone to check the code and it gave me a catalytic converter code. When I was checking out the car it appeared to have rusty rotors, could there be build up in the cat bc it had been sitting for a while? The car was in pristine condition when I checked it out. Nice interior, nice exterior and engine bay wasn’t clean, but wasn’t messy with oil and just had a little dirt like any healthy used car.
The o2 sensors only have to read 5% off to throw this code. Sometimes it will come and go but to fix it for sure you will need to replace the catalytic converter.
