(cheap) Tire recommendations? (for SUVs)

What are the cheapest tires you'd recommend that are still good? I have a 2016 Toyota RAV4 XLE (non-hybrid) cvt. Mostly city driving with occasional longer-distance trips once every few months.

I'm on a budget and can't afford the nicest tires that are expensive. But among the cheaper ones, which would you say is worth getting?

Thanks

Will occasionally need to drive in the snow and on gravel roads (for when I go hiking, just to get to the trail head)

If you're looking for Summer tires, I'd say it's definitely the Falken Ziex.

They're Japanese and they make very good handling and quality (while being somewhat inexpensive)

EDIT: given the fact it's a CVT driven in the city, I'm assuming not looking for anything "off-roadable".

I agree with the Falken Ziex, I got a set for my 05 matrix a couple of months ago, and they are doing really well. Price was great, they handle well, and seem to be good in rain. Not to mention they get great reviews for such a cheap tire. They ride better and quieter than the ones I had on it before as well.

Not necessarily looking for summer tires, I might need to drive these in the snow sometimes. Would these still be good for that? Thanks

I looked more into Falken Ziex, do they come in a size that fits the RAV4? There's

Looks like the Falken Pro G5 CSV fits the RAV4, are those just as good as the Ziex since they're also made by Falken?

As far as tire sizing, they pretty much make most models in most sizes.

As far as the Ziex’s performance in the snow - I’m unsure.
I had good experience with them in heavy rain but I don’t get much snow where I live - so it’s worth checking reviews.
-
I personally I use the Falken Ziex ZE310 EcoRun and they’re made in over 100 sizes so it’s very likely to fit the RAV4 (but it is a euro tire so it may not be available in the other regions. it isn’t that different to other Falken Ziex models)

These should be cheap, significantly cheaper than conti or premium brands.
-
I am unsure about the Falken Pro G5 as I am unfamiliar with it, but it should be alright - Falken generally seems to be quite good.
-
Pre-purchase, check that the date code on the tire it self - it should be fresh!

Take a look on Tire Rack at Vredestein tires.  A European (Dutch) brand with very high quality.  They are selling them cheaper than competitors (mainly Continental, Michelin, and Pirelli) to get into the North American market.  My daughter has them on her Crosstrek and they have been outstanding, especially in foul weather.

Ditto Nokian.  Finnish brand with same story.  I don’t have first hand experience, but reviews are solid.

Either of those brands will get you top tier quality at mid tier price.

Douglas tire in Walmart.

Costco (if you have their membership) does very good sales on their tires. For example I got a set of 4 Michelin tires for $150 off with free installation. Nobody in our area could beat their price for that quality of tires. And they stand by the tires very well too so I think it's worth considering them (unless you want something much cheaper than this).
