Chevy Suburban 2007 5.3 285,000 miles no codes towing a 3,800# camper from Louisiana to California. In high elevation on 100 plus temperature days, transmission temps are up to 242 degrees when climbing Streep grades, cools down to the 200-220 as we get off the grades. What can I do to reduce the transmission temperature if anything? Driving in tow-haul mode how many gears do I have and what is too high of a RPM when it downshifts? Have no slipping of transmission and fluid has never been changed or filter changed.

Install an auxiliary transmission cooler.
